This is a curious national newspaper of the Sultanate of Brunei. It has 8 pages of pictures of random students getting degrees in Islamic Banking from the University of Brunei Darussalam, the main Uni in the nation. The additional snippets are even more interesting.
One had a feature on how in South Korea, to be a masseur you'd have to be blind. People with eyesight could not be masseurs. My initial thought on reading this was that perhaps it was out of prudishness. But knowing what I know of Koreans, I knew this was unlikely. Upon reading it, I found it was purely because of creating jobs and career options for the disabled, which was actually quite noble. However, there was some noise being made by those Koreans that were potentially good masseurs and that had eyesight. We must watch this development carefully, if this legislation is here to stay, we might see Korean masseurs all over South East Asia. Particularly because they have not yet signed the South Korean Masseurs Non-Proliferation Treaty with ASEAN. Again, no inherent bias implied here, but it seems to me that Korean masseurs are best kept in Korea. Did I just say that? Oops, I meant to say "Pass the butter"
But the most interesting snippet was about this Japanese dude who petitioned the Japanese government to legalise marriages to cartoon characters. Now this really got me intrigued. To quote this Japanese gent ," I'm tired of the 3 dimensional world. I want to live in the 2 dimensional world of comic books. Since it is not possible with current technology (!!!), at least I want to marry my favorite hentai model. So what if she is fictional? I still love her".
The more wise people try to predict 21st century behaviours, the more they will fail....
If anyone were to venture to Bandar Seri Begawan, I highly recommend careful perusal of a copy of the Borneo Buletin. It is guaranteed to intrigue and promises to please.
